Lake Tarpon-Kids Tournament

October 4, 2003

That fall time of year and it's time for the annual kids tournament on Lake Tarpon. Fall, yea right ! It felt a little more like that late summer time of year.

We all met early at the old DENNYS for some pancakes and coffee. With breakfast over early and time to kill before daylight, we had time to discuss the strategies for the big hunt that day. This year we were a little short on kids but were determined to make it a great day anyhow and a good day it was after all.

Way to go, Mike ! Good Job, Matthew !

JEFF HUTCHINS with his boys, MIKE and MATTHEW managed to boat some nice keepers and as I understand it there were a few nice ones that got away. Hey boys, that’s why we call it fishing and not catching. Good job Mike and Matthew.

Mike is showin' Ernie what a ''quality keeper'' looks like !

Along with me for the hunt was my young guide MIKE WALKER. Mike had several good fish on before managing to put a nice TWO POUNDER in the boat rather late in the morning. As usual, I had a great time fishing with Mike. Thanks little buddy !

This year JACK HARE, along with his grandson CODY, joined us for their first kid’s tournament. I didn’t see any big fish come out of their boat but I would bet ya they had a good time anyhow. Thanks Jack for joining us on such a short notice.

This group may be small in ''count'', but large where it really counts, ''FUN'' !

A little later that morning BUTCH showed up with his daughter, JANNAH and gang for a day of fishing and probably some entertainment to boot. Glad to see the Lilly’s participate again this year and hopefully many years to come.

A thank you to DICK HAGEMAN for showing up to help out in the event there were more kids than boats available. To every one involved thanks again and hope to see you next year at the annual KIDS TOURNAMENT.
