Bassmaster Series Tournament Director.
(for your viewing pleasure)

     Dear Mike,

Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how much you are appreciated, at least by this angler, and, I'm sure, by many, many of us who fish in the divisions you run.

I write a newsletter for The Clearwater Bass Club, and have been to several open, Southern Tour, and Bassmaster Series tournaments, and I occasionally write about my adventures at these tournaments. I am trying to generate interest in some of my fellow anglers to get into the "game" and compete on a higher plane with you folks !

You and your staff have done a splendid job of setting up your trailer and all the support water troughs and chemicals and scales and printout weigh tickets, live release boats, and more impressively, providing payouts and trophies to the lucky anglers who get them within an hour after the tournaments are over.

Please extend my thanks to all for jobs well done and in a very professional manner, I might add ! I have been on stage with Dewey Kendrick, Ray Scott, Fish Fishburne, Robby (what's his name), Chris Bowes, and Chris (Lurch) Carter, and the quality of verbiage and humor has not diminished with you.

I have attached a copy of a letter I wrote for our club. I would like you to read it, and please, please make everyone aware that the boater is to either provide a rear seat, or at the least offer it to the co-angler. I may have not caught a fish in the tournament mentioned, but with the seat back there I would have had zero room to comment. I am 61 years old, and have done some damage to my knees playing sports at an earlier age. I need the seat.

I do realize that some guys don't need the seat, or find it an impediment to the back deck. I found that out in The Clearwater Bass Club's last tournament. The guy I drew wanted me to remove the seat. He is the first one in our club to do so. He is a new guy (young blood) who totally beat me into oblivion that day. He won with 16 pounds and two "kicker" fish over five pounds. Oh to have solid knees again !

Anyway, I just wanted to take time to give praise where praise is due. Too many times we do not show the appreciation due in any given situation. Please keep up the wonderful dialogue you provide on stage at the briefings, at the launch ramps, and back on stage at the weigh-ins. I see the work your staff does before and after tournaments and know it is a lot of effort on there part as well.

Looking forward to Cypress #4 as I do to all the Bassmaster events I fish ! Hope I get to rush there by fishing the third day at Lake Lanier on The Southern Tour stop # 5 which will mean I made the cut up there. Otherwise I will be at the briefing in Leesburg.

Warmest regards,

"Billy Basser"
AKA Bill Poirier
