"34th" Annual Awards Banquet April 1, 2011 |
Right off the bat, KUDOS to Scott Ellis for making the banquet arrangements. The food was good and the staff didn’t call the cops ! Scott is very much an integral part of the “leadership” group of CBC. This banquet is just one of his projects throughout the year. Additionally, he’s a right good angler. |
Folks arrived starting about 6:00 PM and the tables were set for 30 folks. As usual, “we” had no idea how many people were going to show but about 24 entrée preferences were submitted. The bar was open and the libations started early. By 7:00 PM it was pretty apparent that we had more than 30 members and guests at this shebang. The staff quickly rolled out another 10-top (that’s a ten place table for you non-foodies !) and quickly got everyone seated. |

The awards table was loaded with plaques and the door prize table was piled high. Additionally, there were a couple of bags of “goodies” for the first ever Trivia game. The theme this year was the Academy Awards. If you didn’t know all about “The King’s Speech” and a bit of English history, it was pretty educational !!
Chuck Bearce and Darrell Paquin shared the Master of Ceremonies duties. Darrell kept trying to convince everyone he was bashful. Both men kept things moving. Buddy Doyle (r.), outgoing Vice-President (again, and for the 47th time !!) had the door prize drawings setup and the prizes were whittled away all evening long. The way it was setup, everyone was able to win a drawing and there were plenty of chances to win grab bags and other goodies in the Trivia game. The Top Ten anglers were presented plaques and given their due and then the Classic results were announced: |
